Tristan Harris
Whistleblowers & Insiders · Center for Humane Technology, Google (formerly)
Former Google design ethicist who became one of the most visible voices arguing tech should be built for humane use, not compulsion.
Tristan Harris worked as a design ethicist at Google before leaving to help build the Center for Humane Technology, an organization pushing tech companies to design products that don't exploit human attention. His 2017 TED talk on how a handful of screens shape billions of minds helped popularize the "attention economy" framing, and he became a central voice in the documentary The Social Dilemma. He co-hosts the podcast Your Undivided Attention, where he and collaborators examine how social media, algorithmic feeds, and now AI systems affect young people's attention, mental health, and development.
