Your Attention Has Been Stolen: It's Time to Get It Back (Ready25 keynote)
Three and a half years after Stolen Focus was published, Hari delivered this keynote at Ready25, an Australian property-industry conference run by REA Group, to a professional rather than parenting-focused audience. He restated the book's twelve-factor framework — spanning technology, diet, and workplace and school design — and repeated a statistic he attributes to clinical identification trends: that roughly 100 times as many children are identified with serious attention difficulties today as in 1986. The talk was framed for a business audience around leadership, focus, and managing interruption at work, with the children's-attention data used as context for how widespread the shift has become rather than as the session's central subject. TechKids Foundation includes it as evidence the book's argument, including its claims about children, remains part of Hari's current paid-speaking material years after publication.
Repeated from Stolen Focus in this 2025 keynote: Hari cites data suggesting that for every child identified with serious attention difficulties in 1986, roughly 100 are identified today.
